What is the Beth Ray Center for Academic Support?

The Beth Ray Center for Academic Support (BRC) is home to academic success programming, general purpose classrooms, a computer lab, open study areas, and study rooms.  The BRC is open to all students from 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

1st Floor: Three general purpose classrooms, a computer lab (29 computers), and two study lounges

2nd Floor: Supplemental Instruction study tables, Writing Center sessions, and 12 study rooms (seat 4-6 students)

3rd Floor: Academics for Student Athletes

How can the BRC help me?

The BRC has a variety of study spaces on the 1st and 2nd floor.  Study rooms on the 2nd floor include table space and white boards.  The study lounges on the first floor have open space for meeting with a larger group or studying on your own. The computer lab on the first floor has 29 computers and 2 printing stations.

You can also make use of the ASC programs in the building.  Supplemental Instruction can provide you with support for challenging courses.  Small group study tables for specific courses begin meeting week 2 of the term and continue through week 10.  The Writing Center provides you with the chance to meet one-on-one with a peer trained to give you feedback on your writing at any stage of your writing process.

How can I use the BRC?

The BRC is open to all students from 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday.  The computer lab and study areas all operate on a first-come-first-serve basis.

To participate in Supplemental Instruction, register for a study table that fits your schedule.  Visit the SI Website for a list of currently supported courses. To make an appointment at the Writing Center, visit the WC website or call 541-737-5640.
